PRESS RELEASE:
Press Release:
Piece of Cake, based in the Cotswolds, is a newly launched party planning service.
The brainchild of freelance journalist and former public relations consultant, Bridget Stott, it offers creative ideas and organisation of bespoke grown-up parties, weddings and short breaks for individuals and businesses who want to throw a great party, but just don’t have the time to make it happen or the expert knowledge or contacts to ensure blinding success.
Bridget is passionate about making each event unique and has 15 years of party and event organising experience, but admits her secret weapon is her little black book bulging with special contacts. She recently spotted a gap in the market when trying to find someone to plan her own wedding. “What was offered were inflexible packages stuffed with clichés from venues with loads of hidden extras to dated menus, huge corkage charges and of course, those gold chairs, matching balloons, and really cheesy music,” says Bridget. “I’m making a stand through Piece of Cake’s strapline, ‘time for something different’, to work with fantastic venues, suppliers, entertainers and artisan producers who have a reputation for delivering something exceptional in terms of design, presentation, service and the important little details, even if it means bending the rules a little.”
Piece of Cake is also keen to promote its environmental credentials from using renewable resources and fresh, organic produce to recycling post-party detritus.
Piece of Cake services cover grown-up parties, children’s parties, weddings and short breaks.
Grown-up parties
Bridget has an extensive knowledge of gorgeous locations, venues, fabulous and organic caterers and entertainers in the UK and abroad, and will work up ideas with a client before arranging an event, large or small. Birthdays, anniversaries or any other excuse to have a do, be it a soiree or a night at the circus, Piece of Cake will put together well-packaged themed or seasonal events according to what a client does (or doesn’t yet realise) they want!
Children’s parties
Children’s parties should be the most fun you’ll ever have with your friends, but Piece of Cake also wants to make it hugely enjoyable for adults too. To avoid a post-tea riot led by children high on E numbers, Piece of Cake will offer delicious, home-made, organic goodies, instead of the usual mass-produced rubbish loaded with fats and preservatives. Brilliant themes, games with prizes, food, entertainers, musicians and artists can be arranged to suit particular age groups as can days-out parties. Whatever’s required, it will be an explosive mix of imagination and fun.
Weddings
Piece of Cake aims to create an event that’s as smooth as Duchess satin and will be remembered for all the right reasons. Completely tailored to suit a couple’s particular interests and tastes, the service can extend from hand-holding the fretful whilst planning the ceremony and wedding breakfast to practical advice regarding, eg traditions, flowers, music, speeches and honeymoon destinations.
Bridget can also arrange an ‘Absolute Best’ weekend makeover for brides or grooms to be. She’ll arrange a night in a chic hotel, make dinner reservations and book a day of haircuts, make-up advice, spa and beauty treatments, shopping sprees and afternoon tea.
Short breaks
Having travelled widely over the last 10 years to write features and reviews for national newspapers and glossy magazines, Bridget intends to make good use of her extensive travel knowledge and special contacts to organise short breaks in Britain or abroad for couples, groups, families or corporate events. So if it’s a hen or stag party, a weekend away with the kids in London, a 40th birthday party in a Marrakech riad, or flamenco dancing in Seville on a work jolly, then Piece of Cake can put together the perfect tailor-made itineraries. “Friends often moan to me about how they book a flight on the spur of the moment and then don’t have the wider knowledge to find the perfect hotel, restaurants, club, bar, exhibition or events. They end up traipsing about despondently and come home disappointed.” explains Bridget. “ I’m hoping to change all that by offering people the ‘best of’ a destination that really suits them.
